Created by Decree-Law no. 66/2021 of 30 July 2021, the Social Internet Access Tariff (TSI) applies to consumers on low incomes or with special social needs. It is a broadband internet access service with a minimum speed of 12 Mbps (download) and 2 Mbps (upload) and a monthly traffic limit of 15 GB.

This Service is governed by the Specific Conditions for the Provision of the Mobile Internet and Broadband Service of the Contract.

Yes, you can make a one-off purchase for the same amount as the monthly fee, €6.15 (€5 + VAT), which gives you another 15 GB of traffic. When you use up the traffic included in the monthly fee, you will be redirected to a page with the option to take out a new subscription. The one-off amount will be charged on the monthly invoice.

To cancel the Social Internet Tariff, send an e-mail to tsi@digi.pt, using the form on our customer support page, duly signed in accordance with your identification document (Identity Card, Citizen Card or Passport) and with a copy of your identification document.

The TSI has no minimum contract period and there is no charge for breach of contract. However, if you choose to pay the activation service amount in instalments, and the service is deactivated before that period is up, DIGI will charge the outstanding instalments on your final invoice.

The TSI has a monthly fee of €5+VAT.

To use the service, DIGI will provide the necessary equipment, namely an internet access router.

The duration of the Social Internet Tariff depends on the eligibility criteria that justified granting it continuing to be met.

Every year, ANACOM confirms that the beneficiary's eligibility condition still applies. However, beneficiaries who no longer meet the requirements for the TSI must inform DIGI within 30 days.

In the case of university students, they must provide DIGI every year with the necessary information (tax identification number, tax address, a document certifying enrolment at the higher education institution and their current address of residence) so that ANACOM can give its decision.

DIGI may at any time check the eligibility of TSI beneficiaries with ANACOM. If the eligibility is not confirmed, DIGI may, within 30 days and with prior notice, stop providing the TSI.

If you meet the eligibility requirements for the TSI, you must submit the TSI application again for reassessment by ANACOM, attaching the form and the necessary documents, which you can find at www.digi.pt.

If you are a beneficiary in one of the situations covered for accessing the TSI, you must submit your application. Once DIGI receives your application, it will forward it to ANACOM to check your eligibility by consulting the Social Security and Tax and Customs Authority services.

As soon as ANACOM has checked your eligibility by consulting the Social Security and Tax and Customs Authority services, DIGI activates the TSI within a maximum of 10 days of receiving the confirmation of eligibility from ANACOM. Exceptions are cases of technical impossibility or failure to meet the assessment and fraud detection criteria subsequently identified, as well as cases where, within that period, the service cannot be activated for reasons beyond DIGI's control.

• In eligible cases, the TSI activation process is completed
• In non-eligible cases, you will receive an SMS informing you of the decision

The TSI may also be granted to university students belonging to households with an annual income of €5,808.00 or less, plus 50% for each member of the household with no income of their own, including the applicant, up to a limit of 10 people.

In the case of students belonging to eligible households, the application must include a document certifying enrolment at a higher education institution and a document certifying their current address of residence (a certificate from the parish council, an essential public utility bill, etc.).

To sign up for the TSI you must fill in a DIGI form with the details required to grant it, that is:

• Full name;
• Tax Identification Number (NIF);
• Tax address of the contract holder;
• In the case of university students belonging to households in the situation described in point f) of section 12.1., the application must include a document certifying enrolment at a higher education institution, as well as a document certifying their current address of residence.

Applicants should preferably provide an e-mail address in order to receive a copy of the form after submitting it, as well as to receive the documentation needed to formalise the contract.

The Social Internet Tariff applies to consumers on low incomes or with special social needs. Under the terms of the law, it covers individuals in the following situations:

• Recipients of the solidarity supplement for the elderly
• Recipients of the Social Insertion Income
• Recipients of unemployment benefits
• Recipients of the family allowance
• Recipients of the social invalidity pension under the special invalidity protection scheme or of the supplement to the social benefit for inclusion
• Households with an annual income of €5,808.00 or less, plus 50% for each member of the household with no income of their own, including the applicant, up to a limit of 10 people;
• Recipients of the social old-age pension

Each household may only benefit from one TSI offer at any given time, with the exception of university students who are part of households receiving the TSI and who have moved to another municipality to study.
